There are good tensile strengths in 520 pitch.

?new to the Z h2 what chain is on it oem?

I’ve worked in my mates bike shop for 20 yrs on a Saturday morning and really it depends on the quality of the chain, you put cheap Chinese chains on it’ll last minutes good X ring and it’ll last ages!

525 is standard. You are correct a good quality x ring chain has a high tensile strength.

I have searched everything I know to search.  There are no 520 front sprockets available for any H2 based bike.  The front sprocket is unique and the same for all H2 variants for all years (12 inner spines vs 13 for most Kaws).  There are no smaller front sprockets available in 525 (there may have been one available in Japan at one time).  There is a +1 (19t) 525 Vortex front sprocket (Brock's has it).  There are no 530 front sprockets.  I am at altitude and the norm is to go -1/+1 to get some torque back and we can't.  So, I just ordered a 51 tooth Vortex aluminum (no steel available) for about 10% lower gearing and a new 120 link 525 DID x chain.

    Please, anyone, prove me wrong.

I do think there’s no way to get a smaller front sprocket but call and talk to the guy at drivenracing https://www.drivenracing.com/contact

I was able to get a rear 42T in steel from them that I couldn’t find on their website but talking to him he found one. They may have larger steel rear sprockets as well. I’m not affiliated with them in any way.

Thanks XARMY9.  I sent a message.  I am heading out to the garage now to install a new 51t rear Vortex Aluminum and a 120 link DID.

So xarmy9 did prove me wrong.  Driven DOES have a 17t front.

Unfortunately, I already committed to the 51 rear.  A 17  with the 51 would lower the gears ~17% - which is too much.  The 51 rear does feel great at an altitude density that robs 30% of my power.  The 17/48 would have been about same 11% reduction and I could have kept the stock chain.
