KECS Install on Standard Z H2

Has anyone looked into installing the SE KECS forks, KECS control unit and rear shock on a non SE model?  Looking at the parts diagrams they both use the same wire harness and ECU.  Could it be as easy as finding the wire harness connecters for the forks, rear shock and KECS control unit and plugging them into the SE components?

Well, I figured that this would be a common mod for Non SE models to get Skyhook technology.  I figured it would have been tried by now.  I'm listing a complete KECS system on Ebay and was hoping to include "upgrade your SE model with KECS" in the listings, but I guess not.  The way the parts diagrams look it seems logical.  The wire harnesses and main ECU are the same between the two and the KECS has its own ECU.

You're probably better off just selling your Z H2 and then buying a used SE. The SE model was only $2k USD more from the factory, but you're going to be paying a lot more than that to upgrade the suspension alone. Even more if you also want the upgraded brakes.

The suspension options aren't going to appear in your display with a standard model ECU. You're likely going to need a salvaged SE ECU, and may need a dealership to mate the display with your salvaged ECU afterwards. Possibly the same thing needed for the KECS ECU. I'm not even sure if a dealership will sync them without any kind of title to the VIN. Your mileage will match the salvage VIN and not what you have titled which can also lead to legal problems or problems with your insurance if they ever find out. I would look at this from the point of view that you're re-building an SE model, but using a standard model as a donor for the shared parts.

Full coverage on insurance may also be a headache depending on whether your insurance company uses their own adjuster for initial estimates. This is pretty common when determining if a bike should be salvaged or not. They're going to price you on new standard parts vs SE parts.
