May have broken my 5 day old zh2!
on: April 20, 2021, 02:44:57 PM
Hi all, got my new zh2 about 5 days ago 😁
Ran it in gentle for about 50 miles then just ride it as usual.
I was out yesterday and it would wheelie quite easily in 3rd and 4th off power.
Went out today and it wouldn't lift of power even in 3rd!
Got home and it seemed to be stumbling a little bit at idle and the supercharger seemed quite noisy, but I'm unsure if this is normal or not as I usually have ear plugs and helmet fitted when the bike is running.
I Think the hard run in may of damaged something!
It's in sport mode and has been since I picked it up from the dealers.

Well thatís not the recommended break in by Kawi thatís for sure. Lots of differing opinions on following manufacturer recommendation vs hard break in but I sure as sh#t wouldnít tell that story to your dealer...
"That bike has too much power"... said no one ever

Oh I won't,  I will just say its making a funny noise!
I've let it cool down and it sounds OK now, will see if wheelies on the way to the dealer tomorrow.

I honestly do not believe you can damage a modern car or motorcycle by simply riding/driving them hard. Even when new. I have had a ton of new bikes and cars. I have never babied a performance bike or car. I am not saying abusive. For example, our bike wheelies off throttle in 1-4, just because. That is, no need to spank it for this to occur and it occurs long before redline. In contrast, clutching up a wheelie on a new Ninja 400 and riding that wheelie for the next mile is abusive. So, if you just rode a few power wheelies and something broke, it was likely to have been flawed to begin with.

Just curious, any updates on this thread?

If the zh2 wheelies everytime in 4th gear off power alone then there's something wrong with my bike, it's even stopped lifting in 3rd about 50% of the time.

Is it possible that you inadvertently changed a Traction Control ot other mode setting without realizing it?

The Z H2 does not "easily" wheelie in 4th gear "off power". Unless snap'ing on/off throttle on a hilly road with an empty tank and a midget rider.
It depends on the weather conditions, full or empty tank, the weight of the rider.
It should be a well known fact that the non-intercooled supercharged motor of the H2 can vary over 20HP between cold weather/air and hot weather/air.
That is why a intercooler is mandatory if you do not want to be disappointed on a hot summer day (or on consecutive runs on a dyno).
