Cruise Control 6,000 RPM limit
on: December 03, 2021, 06:37:00 AM
The cruise control on my 2022 ZH2 will not work when the engine speed is above 6,000 RPM.  This is not in the manual.

6,000 RPM in 6th gear is 84 mph, and manual says the CC won't work above 84.  On my bike the speedo actually indicated 88 mph.  The manual does say in lower gears the CC limit of speed is a lower road speed.  In 3rd, 4th, and 5th I did not note what the road speeds were for 6,000 RPM for each gear.

But it's simple, it won't work with engine speed above 6,000 RPM.

I noted two other "features" of the CC that are not typically found on most CC, I found these two included in the manual, but I would have never figured it out on my own.  The CC "forgets" the set speed when the engine RPM drops below 2,000 RPM or when the road speed falls below 9 mph.  Basically, if you come to a stop sign or a red light, the CC will forget the set speed and the "resume" button won't get you back to the previously set speed.  No big deal, just info.

I’m glad our bikes have cruise control but not keen about this last feature you mentioned. I wonder what the engineering team that designed this “limitation” into the Bike were thinking. Clear, they don’t actually ride motorcycles or drive cars for that matter.

The 6000 rpm limit I can live with, sort of. It would have been nice to set out into the Mojave and engage cruise at 120 and watch the world go by.

I agree it's stupid, or at least silly.  It might be a Japanese thing, I had a Yamaha Tracer GT that the cruise did not work on 3rd gear, only 4-5-6 gears.  We don't need to be protected or shielded from any of that.

I installed an aftermarket electronic cruise control (MC Cruise) on my '15 FJ-09. If there exists a speed limit on that unit, I have not found it yet.

The only speed limitation is my personal pucker factor.

The aftermarket units won't have a limit.  I had an '08 FJR and I installed the same cruise control on it.

My UK ZH2 cruise control works fine at over the ton.  Maybe a country specific thing?
