    Front Brake Issue
    on: September 17, 2022, 07:51:01 pm

Just back from a a week in the mountains and I'm not impressed with the front brake. When pushing into hairpins bends, especially downhill, I had the lever coming back to the bar (yes the span adjuster was wound right out)

I'm going to bleed the brakes off tomorrow see if I get air out, but they weren't pumping up so I don't think that's the issue.

Give the bike a breather and the brakes came back so I'm wondering if it's the fluid (3 years old only 2,500 miles though - bikes new to me only had one service plus the 600 mile one). My other Kawasaki stops a lot harder and a lot more often. Running that with Brembo levers and 19mm radial master, Brembo monoblock s and full sintered pads on T-Spec discs.

    After ideas.

    Cheers.

Look at your brake fluid , ive Seen a lot of bikes with less miles than yours with black fluid and mediocre performances
Seems like kawi has some contaminated oil and it deteriorates fast , change it and you should be good to go  :152:

The bike also has rubber lines that will get squishier as you heat up the fluid.  I recommend Castrol SRF fluid.  It has a high dry boiling point but very high wet point, meaning it will last better even as it absorbs water.  I also recommend to change every 2 years regardless due to the fluid absorbing water regardless of use.

After all that brake hardware upgrades, and no fluid change? First thing to be done when upgrading anchors, try Motul RBF 600/660 synthetic fluid, top notch stuff  :156:

I haven't touched the brakes on this bike, the set-up.isnt far off what I have on my ZRX, but with really crap performance.

I'll drop the fluid - it's not black at all and see what I get.

This is not normal for th ZH2, there is something wrong.  When you get it right, it'll be right.  I realize I am not helping much, I guess my point is to say that if you get everything back to OEM condition (without upgrading components), you'll have good brakes as expected.
